All of the bikes below are tested and deemed road-safe by Alex, on 2026-04-09. I have my notes for each bike below, and a subjective rating for which I would prefer.

As with every bike, before you ride, remember to:

  • Adjust seat height till your leg is almost fully extended pressing the pedal down
  • Check tire pressure
  • Test brakes to get a feel for braking strength

Heavy tools

  • Front derraileur won’t get to high - cable replacement?
  • Back wheel wobbly
  • Front tube has no caps no cap
  • Operational 6/10, loses some speed

Specialised

  • Squeaky brakes - need disc brake cleaner
  • Chain feels jumpy on the front shifts
  • Front disc brake pads create slight friction due to bent disk
  • 7.5/10

Scott

  • Back brake cable is slow to return, needs replacement
  • Front chainrings are a bit loud
  • Saddle has some breakage
  • 7.5/10

Puch

  • Beware the shifter and the back pedal brake!
  • No obvious issues besides the horn
  • 8/10

Taifun mountain

  • Something is losing energy in the chain but I can’t figure out what
  • Enable the dynamo by pressing on the little metal plate to the left. Disable it by pulling out
  • The back light doesn’t work, lightbulb is burned
  • 6/10

Easy foldable

  • Gear ratio doesn’t go very high
  • Brake cable in the back needs replacement
  • 7/10 but only in the city or small distances
